When to Plant Garlic in NZ

Garlic is planted in autumn and winter – it is widely sown between April and August in New Zealand.

Traditionally garlic has been sown on the shortest day in New Zealand (the winter solstice), but increasingly the trend is to plant earlier these days especially in the North Island. We’re planting our garlic from mid-April to June in 2025.

How to prepare Seed Garlic effectively and cost-savingly

The HGSF-600 Garlic Splitter and Clove Sorter uses the gap between the upper and lower silicone plates,  and centrifugal force to squeeze and rub the entire garlic head into cloves. Then The garlic stems and garlic heads are blown away from the machine from one side , by the built-in fan and can be recycled.  Finally, The separated garlic cloves roll out to the clove sorting machine.  which will rotate and sort them with 3 sizes.

After that, You can plant same size garlic clove uniformly to increase yield.   or only plant big garlic, make small garlic cloves to garlic powder and garlic granules.
